Sunday Getaway At The Equestrian Club of Kouvaras

Sunday morning, the sun was brightly calling us out and the family was full force ready to hit the roads. The destination was the one and only Equestrian Club of Kouvaras. Only half an hour far from the center of Athens this gorgeous estate makes the perfect setting for a day trip with the family -and not just that!

If your kids are young it is sure you will love the place. It has everything you need to enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch in peace while the kids are having the time of their life without you having to worry or run after them.

HOW TO GO THERE

Following Attiki Odos you continue after Markopoulo on Lavriou avenue with destination towards Kouvaras. You take the exit Kouvaras/ Peta and then turn left. From that point on you simply follow the signs that will lead you to Agiou Fanouriou street and right in front of the main entrance of the estate. There is a big, free parking lot (with a capacity for 150 cars) for you both inside and outside the property.

By the time we arrived to meet our friends from Τravel Bloggers Greece, the place was already flooded with families. Tables were filled with people enjoying the sun over a cup of coffee, while children were running happily and playing in the inflatable castles.

After some joyful greetings & embracing with our friends, we were greeted by the young waitress that came to take our order. She could not help but laugh at listening to me and Christos ordering plain orange juice, while our children asked for Freddo espressos! Our young men comfortably soaked in the sun and chatted. They looked to really enjoy the experience as much as we did.

THE EQUESTRIAN CLUB OF KOUVARAS

Inside the same property, you will find the equestrian club. Here they offer horse riding lessons for all levels up to the championship. Smaller children can have their first experiences with horse riding inside the specially organized area. Right behind the stables, there is a small farm. There we had the opportunity to see small ponies, lamas, little goats and donkeys. The smallest children of the group got to feed them too with some hey, something that got them really enthusiastic.

LUNCH IN THE EQUESTRIAN CLUB OF KOUVARAS

Βy noon we started getting really hungry and we then directed towards the inside of the building. This area of the restaurant and cafeteria are comfortable and full of light. The big windows allow full unobstructed view to the veranda.

Everything served here is prepared inside the premises of the Club under the guidance of a professional Chef. As it was the lent period we could not try the cheese pie with handmade pastry, neither the pastitsio or the club sandwiches and burgers that passed under our nose heading to other tables. What we did try though was a delicious orzo with octopus and a salad. The portions are really really big and the menu is frequently renewed so as the regular visitors can enjoy a variety of choices.
